The introduction by Dr. Jones added greatly to this thought provoking work of 1890. Reading this should help us better understand the jigsaw puzzle of modern world events.
After reading this great work and look around, you see that the Catholic Church is no longer fighting her enemies and have actually capitulated to them. I hate using the tired term "raising awareness" but in this case it's a perfect for this book in understanding the hidden and not so hidden forces that are trying to destroy the Church, the family and wipe out the memory of Our Lord and Savior from the face of the Earth. If you want to understand the REAL Catholic position on the issue, read that book.
While I found the introduction to be more of a hindrance that a help and a needless introduction of current trends, the actual article by Civilita Cattolica to be insightful and a primary example of dealing with a subject without needless passion. It does give a better understanding to 19th and 20th century concerning not merely the Jewish problem but the framework for of the thinking of theories that were latter adulterated by anti-Semites.
It is thought provoking because it does give a flavor of the times, monetary theory, the rise of nation-states, the theological disputes in Judaism, religious theory as understood by 19th century contemporaries. It is interesting to note it was written at a time when the Papacy considered itself to be the prisoner of the Vatican and a scant three decades after the demise of the papal kingdom. Much is said to give pause, and much is written between the lines with benefit of hindsight.
